Length: 160 pages

The La Roux ancestral home may be gone, but the horror it once sheltered is still alive.

Marigold is hunted, tormented by a demon that hungers for her to kill. She doesn’t know how much longer she can resist. In a desperate attempt to keep her sanity, Marigold flees to the rusted remains of a paddle steamer, deep in the heart of the Louisiana bayous. Here, the only people she encounters are long since dead. The ghosts that haunt the boat are possessive and territorial. They keep the demon from entering. But there are many lost souls that roam the backwaters. They are drawn to the boat, to the life on board. Marigold’s hiding place may soon become her grave.

Isolated and trapped, Marigold and Louis fight to resist the sinister forces mounting around them. But when night falls and the fog rolls in, the ghosts become hungry and restless. A sacrifice must be made. Her sanity or her life; they won’t allow her to keep both.

Like the first book it felt like I was jumping into it halfway through it and expected to make sense of it with no reference to it. Other than that it wasnt too bad but I really am learning to hate these books that leave it as a cliff hanger and force you to buy the next book to see what happens.

I was not confused at all which comes often with a book of this type. I found it to be a good progression from the first in the series. Cliffhanger? Somewhat. With that said, I enjoyed it!

I read the first one in the series, enjoyed the story. This one is a mess. Badly needs proof reading, and spell check. If you did not read the first book, you will not have a clue what is going on. I saw real promise in her first book. A book that cannot be read as a stand alone is not a good book. Just picking up and dropping off anywhere is a cheap ploy to force sales. A good book will sell on its own merit. Will not read another of her books unless she uses her real talent to write a complete book.

Still a good read. Mostly action with no resolution. The ending is abrupt and leaves the reader wanting the next in series.. I will read the next book in this series. The storyline and character development are what I loved in the first book, this continues that development.

Can’t wait for the last book in the trilogy. Not sure if I liked the first or second installment better. Both were quick, fast paced, nail-biters.

Book 2 of the Dark Legacy Series picks up three months after the events of Black Bayou.Marigold is surviving. Her only friend in the world is Louis who is struggling to keep her safe. Louis has hidden Marigold away leaving her isolated in an attempt to buy them some time and figure out their next move.As things around Marigold escalate she chooses not to confide in Louis; but withholding information could cost both of them their lives. This book is an excellent bridge between Black Bayou and the 3rd story in the trilogy. It is another fast-paced novel that leaves you wanting more.My only criticism is that I would have liked to see the events go over a longer period of time. This would have made the book longer and given the reader more time with the characters and the situation as quickly unfolds.I am absolutely looking forward to book 3.

I hate the ending! !!why do that,,,,you might think it’s cute but it anoys reader’s. In case you are wondering what I’m talking about the ending is a cliffhanger. …

A very good sequel to Black Bayou. I have to admit the story took a while for me to get into it but once I did I really enjoyed it. Very scary! There’s a lot going on in this book and unfortunately it leaves you hanging at the end. Not a fan of that and I do agree with a OP who would like to see this story end with some kind of resolution instead of resorting to a cliffhanger. I have KU but I guess I wouldn’t be too happy either if I had to pay for each book. Just a note if you just come into this second book without reading the first you will be totally lost. It’s been awhile since I read the first book and even I was a little confused at first. All in all, I enjoyed the book and I’m looking forward to the finale.

Not quite as good as the first but still satisfying. My biggest complaint is I felt the 2nd book bordered on over the top, kind of like watching a horror movie where they think the crazier the action the better. The thing that sucked me in from the get go is these books are damn scary and trust me when I say I’m no slouch. I’m a fan of extreme horror and though I absolutely love the genre I can’t say much truly scars me and there are parts in these books, especially the first that chilled me to the bone, truly horrifying. Unlike other reviewer’s I liked the ending . I did feel like it was a little, well maybe a lot unrealistic but really…do you read fiction especially horror for the realism? I look forward to seeing what more this author has to offer. Now on to number three!

Inherit a title but you also inherit a demon who requires bloody murder sacrifices. This is one severely twisted family that Marigold finds she is part of. Add in ghosts, voodoo, New Orleans and this ride is fleshing out to be quite a story. Must read book 1 first, but 2 was as good if not better than the first book. I’m ready to see if its all tied up in Book 3.

First, it’s a good followup to the first book in the series. Second, I almost didn’t finish the first chapter because of the punctuation and grammar errors. I understand tossing some rules aside because of a style choice or to match the voice of the character, this isn’t that. Seriously, get a copy of “Chicago Manual of Style” and reference it. OMG. That being said, if you aren’t bothered by such things as commas and apostrophes (also, learn how to use a semicolon – don’t fear the winky ;), then this is a quick, good, and fairly creepy read.

I enjoyed the series although I thought the author talked and explained in detail everything about the ghosts and the evils that followed this family. I didn’t care as much about that.

I guess I wrote my review in the wrong place. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a page Turner for sure. The subject matter was an excellent choice. Cannot wait for the next book to come. I would recommend this and all of your other books to my family and friends.
