A cold dark night. A cemetery full of secrets. And murderous ghosts on the loose.

After more than a decade, Connor Mann is forced out of the psychiatric ward he once called home. He finds himself back in the town where he grew up, with a distant father, and a tragedy all too painful to bear.

His attempt to resume a normal life soon comes under attack when he encounters restless spirits lurking in the basement. And someone – or something – terribly vicious awaits him with open arms in nearby Pine Grove Cemetery.

Meanwhile, a series of unexplained murders begin to wreak havoc on the town, and a group of detectives work tirelessly on the puzzling case. Unbeknownst to them, an elderly Chinese man, Hu, is on the lookout for a nefarious priest, who might hold the key to unlocking the mystery.

As a legion of deadly ghosts cast an ominous cloud over Pine Grove, Connor must confront his tragic past and gather all his strength to defeat them. The battle against unimaginable evil will change everything he knows about himself, and the world.

I’m ready for the hunt. This should be a good series. Maybe Conner Wil meet Shane some day. I like that he is terrified and admits it. I would be too.

Was very good reading. I myself have always been a little Leary of them. I love a good ghost story and this proved very entertaining. I love the mixture of Chinese and American. Would definitely tell my friends to read this.

Another excellent book by THE MASTER of Horror/ghost/paranormal !. This book pulls you in and keeps you reading. Ron Ripley couldn’t put out a bad book if he was given instructions.Cemeteries, ghost dog guardians, evil Oriental shape shifters, and ravenously hungry ghosts!. Plus a special guy that doesn’t even know how or why he’s special, but he will soon. A must read book, as ALL Ron Ripley books are!

I love ghost stories and this one was so good. It has good character development and loved Connor and Hu. It has many hungry ghosts, dog statues, gore, evil priests, a cemetery and more. When is the next adventure of Connor and Hu coming and when is it going to be on audio? Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys ghosts’ stories and recommend the Berkley Series!!

Hard to follow– especially the bonus endings at the end. I read it but I could not really explain this book to anyone. Weird!

I didn’t find it as engaging as the Berkley series, but it was well written and creepy. I will be keeping up with these!

I enjoyed this installment, book one, but too many questions for left unanswered. But good characters, intriguing premise and I guess I will have to but the next installment to find out what happens.

Totally thrown by the ending but then the bonus chapters picked up where it left off. Title really means the ghosts were hungry. Literally

I really enjoy Mr. Ripley’s writing. Believable characters, great plot — could easily see this becoming a television series. Also, excellently edited (unlike the majority of e-books). I definitely recommend this book!

Ron Ripley never fails to deliver, and this book, a take on Chinese ghost stories is no exception. Having read a plethora of this author’s stories, I thought I knew what to expect. I didn’t. The good news is that the book leaves room for a (some?) sequel(s). The bad news is that the book is so good you will probably read it in one setting. Suffice it to say that Connor and Colonel Hu will become some of your new favorites in ghost fighters. Enjoy!

I rarely read ghost stores because I’m kind of a wimp and don’t like scary, gory books. (I think reading “The Amityville Horror” over 30 yrs ago put me off them (couldn’t look in the mirror at night after I finished.. yikes). Anyway, I saw this (only 99 cents) in an email and checked it out. Looked just a little scary 🙂 so I tried it. I didn’t think it would scare me like “TAH” did. And I was right. It was a good read, kept my interest, and the characters were (very) interesting and well written. I may pick up the next one.

I liked the book but just about the time I got really interested, it was over. Hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next one.

Well written and believable mostly. The idea that ghosts could eat after death was novel.

But not as good as his Berkeley series. Some of the story felt unbelievable like it was deliberately forced to go a certain way for added conflict…even though the conflict didn’t amount to much. For all that it kept me reading and interested. So it was good but nothing very special. The Chinese aspect was interesting though I have a feeling it might not resonate with an actual Chinese person.

Loved this book. It had everthing I love in a great ghost story and then some. Mental hospital, graveyard, ghosts, some gore, priests. The storyline was original and intriguing. The characters were all interesting. I highly recommend this book.

It was kind of hard to follow in some places. In places it was gruesome and entertaining. It took a lot concentrating to imagine some of the going ons.
